Tracy Shar is a Senior Advisor with Wealthstream Advisors who focuses on providing the information and context that clients need in order to make informed financial decisions. After preparing net worth statements and cash flow analyses, then reviewing tax returns, life insurance summaries and investment statements, Tracy makes recommendations that best fit clients’ needs and goals. Tracy recognizes that clients’ taxes and estate plans are an integral part of their decision-making process and thus works closely with accountants, insurance agents and estate attorneys to ensure all elements of a financial plan are considered. By effectively consolidating the multitude of essential financial data, Tracy paints a total financial picture for Wealthstream’s clients.
After graduating from American University with a Bachelor of Arts in finance and accounting, Tracy began her career working for a bank and a small investment firm. Later, she was a public accountant with KPMG. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York chapter of the Financial Planning Association.
Tracy was inspired to build on her significant experience in accounting to make a career shift and focus on financial planning because it gave her an opportunity to work with individuals—not corporations—on issues that made a difference in their lives. After gaining experience as an associate at a large national wealth management firm, she decided to join Wealthstream Advisors because of the firm’s comprehensive approach to wealth management and its focus on client relationships. Tracy enjoys the continuity and longevity of her relationships with her clients as well as with her fellow associates.
Outside the office, Tracy enjoys tennis, yoga, spinning, trying out new restaurants and going to the theater with her daughter. She’s also a travel enthusiast who enjoys spending time on Florida’s beaches and going on safaris—she has already visited South Africa, Tanzania and Zimbabwe. She and her husband, Larry, live in New York City, close to their children and grandchildren.
