Tracy Shar, CPA, CFP®
Senior Advisor, Shareholder
Tracy Shar enjoys engaging with the details of clients’ financial situations, whether simple or complex, to help people achieve their goals and feel confident about an informed decision-making process for their financial lives. As a Senior Advisor, Tracy reviews clients’ investments, insurance, taxes, and estate documents, synthesizing this information to develop a holistic financial picture. She collaborates with accountants, insurance agents, and estate attorneys to help tailor every client’s financial plans to their unique challenges and opportunities. With 16 years of experience at Wealthstream Advisors, Tracy is also a member of the financial planning committee and lends her expertise to estate planning and tax planning education initiatives throughout the firm.
After graduating from American University with a Bachelor of Arts in finance and accounting, Tracy began her career working for a bank and small investment firm. She later transitioned to a role as a public accountant for KPMG. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Already an experienced accounting professional, Tracy was inspired to harness her talents on behalf of individuals, not corporations. She decided to make a career shift to financial planning, which started with an associate’s role at a large national wealth management firm. Tracy next decided to join Wealthstream Advisors, after finding that the firm’s comprehensive approach to wealth management and commitment to nurturing client relationships matched her own values. She continues to enjoy the continuity and longevity of her relationships with clients and colleagues alike.
Tracy enjoys many hobbies outside of work, including tennis, yoga, spinning, trying out new restaurants, and going to the theater with her daughter. She loves traveling, from relaxing on Florida’s beaches to exploring other global destinations. Her safaris have included South Africa, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe (with her next adventure planned for Australia and New Zealand)! She and
her husband, Larry, live in New York City, close to their children and grandchildren.
